Neil Bradley Huston, 60, of Havana died July 31, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Sept. 18, 1964, in Macomb, a son of Charles and Patricia Blickenstaff Huston. He married Mary Jane Masten on Nov. 2, 2019, in Havana. She survives.
Also surviving are one brother, Jeff (and Charlene) Huston of Macomb; his children, Chad Cox and Tevin (and Elisha) Huston, both of Macomb, Kiara (and Ray) Huston of Hudson, N.H., Jeanette (and Tony) Gathman of Havana and Justin (and Morgan) Friedrich of Bath; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He retired from Western Illinois University in 2019 where he was a Landscape Maintenance Foreman for 21 years while also mentoring countless students. He also worked as a counselor for Chaddock in Quincy helping troubled youth. In addition to his full-time positions, he also coached basketball, football, baseball and softball for many years. Not only did he coach, Neil was also a certified ASA umpire.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Havana 1st Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
Memorials may be made in Neil’s name to Grace Lutheran Academy.
