Shirley J. Horwedel, 93, of Vermont died at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 16, 2024, at The Elms in Macomb.
She was born July 2, 1930, in Canton, the daughter of William and Helen McNatt Roddis. She married George Horwedel on Aug. 19, 1949, in Ipava. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1991.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Neal Horwedel; and two grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Mark (and Kathy) Horwedel of Belle Vista, Ark., Craig (and Diane) Horwedel of Palm Coast, Fla., and Lance (and Debby) Horwedel of Lewistown; one daughter, Georgia Cassidy of Table Grove; one daughter-in-law, Misty Horwedel of Phoenix, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She first worked at Camp Ellis in Ipava. She went on to work at the Vermont State Bank. She later became Post Master in Ipava, where she retired.
A graveside service was held Monday in the Ipava Cemetery with Pastor Cody Stinnett officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
