He was born Feb. 10, 1969, in Macomb, a son of George and Shirley Roddis Horwedel. He married Misty Yelton on June 5, 2013, in Hawaii. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Emily, Hannah and Kadie Horwedel; his mother, Shirley Horwedel; one sister, Georgia Cassidy; three brothers, Mark (and Kathy) Horwedel, Craig (and Diane) Horwedel and Lance (and Debby) Horwedel; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a graduate of VIT High School and Western Illinois University in Macomb.
He worked as a Safety Manager in the construction field, last working at Sivyer Steel Castings in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Matthew Thiner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ipava Cemetery.
Memorials in Neal’s memory may be made to the Vermont Fire and Rescue Squad or the Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue.
