Dean HouckDean Clinton Houck, 86, of Rushville died at 4:10 p.m. Oct. 5, 2021, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

He was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Sandwich, the son of Lester and Mae Burgess Houck. He married Donna Mae Coop on March 30, 1957, in Platteville. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2010.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Denine Cox; and one sister, Nina Houck Kimbrough.

Surviving are one son, Darrin (and Christina) Houck of Maryville; five grandchildren, Kellie (and Erik) Cox Basley of Galesburg, Keith (and Paige) Cox of Los Angeles, Calif., Tanner Houck (and fiancé Abby Vasquez) of Framingham, Mass., Shelby Houck of St. Louis, Mo., and Claire Houck of Maryville; and one great-grandchild.

He graduated from Yorkville High School with the class of 1952 and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59.

He was an office and credit manager at Schuyler-Brown FS for many years. He and his wife Donna became the owners of Donna’s Fashions in 1973 and worked diligently at that for 27 years until retiring from this venture in 2000.

He was a member of Rushville First Presbyterian Church, Rushville Lodge #9 AF and AM, Schuyler County 22 Club, Quincy Consistory AASR and Ansar Shrine of Springfield where he was a Shrine Clown for several years. He also was a member of Rushville Lions Club and Rushville Moose Lodge #506.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rushville First Presbyterian Church with Mr. David Eyler officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and an U.S. Army Honors Detail. Masonic services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Pitch for Adoption in Belleville, Rushville First Presbyterian Church or Holy Cross Lutheran School Race for Education in Collinsville.
