Donna HouckDonna Mae (Coop) Houck, 73, of Rushville died at 4:23 a.m. May 28, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Morris, a daughter of Merle and Ruth Clark Coop. She married Dean Clinton Houck on March 30, 1957 in Plattville. He survives.

Also surviving are two children, Denine (and Kent) Cox of Rushville and Darrin (and Christina) Houck of Maryville; one sister, Leona (and Richard) Bornemann; one brother, Keith (and Pat) Coop; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Yorkville High School in 1954. She became an registered nurse in 1957 in Aurora after graduating from Copley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She became a nurse’s instructor at the same hospital in Rushville.

Her nursing profession allowed her to work at Kansas State University, and at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

She and her husband became owners of Donna’s Fashions in 1973 and worked diligently at that for 27 years until she retired in 2000.

She was an active member of Rushville First Presbyterian Church, Rushville Public Library Board and Women of the Moose Lodge #506.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at her church with Rev. Steve Akins officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rushville First Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
