Hubert “Melvin” Hendricks

Hubert Melvin Hendricks, 96, of Rushville died at noon Feb. 2, 2021, at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Cooperstown, the son of Thomas and Venia Chute Hendricks. He married Marilyn Joyce Sorrells on May 10, 1951, in Brown County. She preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Joseph Hendricks; 11 siblings; two grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Hendricks and Joshua Levi Hendricks; and three great-grandchildren, Dakota Levi Corrick, Archer Samuel Corrick and Ransom River Corrick.

Surviving are one son, Mark Hendricks of Rushville; two daughters, Candy Anderson of Rushville and Cathy Rigg of Industry; one sister, Nina Merrill of Astoria; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Matthew Thiner officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery with Military Honors by Schuyler Post #4 American Legion and a U.S. Air Force Honors Detail. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
