Dale Haney

Dale HaneyDale Frank Haney, 62, of San Marcos, Texas, died at 8:23 p.m. Nov. 8, 2020, at his home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1957, in Macomb, a son of Frank L. and Sandra Lou Hammond Haney. He married Maria Richey on March 13, 1984, in San Marcos, Texas. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother; two brothers, Dean (and Cynthia) Haney and Carl (and Shawn) Haney; one sister, Mary (and Bob) BonDurant; four nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Charles and Maxine Haney and Glenn and Lena Hammond.

He was a graduate of VIT High School in Table Grove, class of 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from Western Illinois University in Macomb.

After earning his degree, he lived in Iowa and Missouri. He and his horse Scout found their way to Texas following his muse of Animals and Agriculture. He worked many years at the Hays County Sheriff’s office as a Certified Corrections Officer, eventually retiring after 30-plus years of service.

Services were held Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in San Marcos, Texas, with Rev. Dennis Spire officiating. Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
