Karen HaleKaren Sue Hale, 77, of Chatham died at 8:10 p.m. July 18, 2020, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Rushville, a daughter of Glen Hale and Anita Lenover Hale Shawgo and stepfather Aubrey Shawgo.

Surviving are two sisters, Bonnie Jansen of Quincy and Mrs. William “Sandra” Dragoo of Petersburg; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Smothers; and three brothers, George Hale, Rodney Hale and Jerry Hale.

She was employed by the Illinois Air National Guard as a civilian purchasing agent until retiring in 2005.

She was a member of West Side Christian Church and the TNT Sunday school class in Springfield.

When she grew up in Rushville she was a Brownie and later a Girl Scout.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Funeral services will follow with Mike Harney officiating. Inurnment will be held in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church or Culbertson Hospital Foundation.
