Gerald Haney Sr.Gerald Monroe Haney Sr., 98, died at 3:52 p.m. April 1, 2020, at Bickford Cottage in Macomb.

He was born Jan. 2, 1922, the son of Willis and Grace Schroder Haney. He married Mary Skiles on June 21, 1942. She preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 1998.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Timothy; and one grandson, Forrest Haney.

Surviving are four sons, Gerald M. (and Carol) Haney Jr. of Industry, James M. Haney of Lakeland, Fla., Jack W. (and Karen) Haney of Cameron, Texas, and David R. (and Amy) Haney of Macomb; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He had lived in Vermont, Adair and a short time in Macomb before moving to Industry. He served in the U.S. Army during the Normandy Invasion in World War II.

He was a lifelong farmer and also had worked for many years as a mechanic at the Studebaker Garage in Macomb, and then worked for NTN Bower from the time they opened until his retirement.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church.

Private family graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. There will be no visitation. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Macomb VFW and the Macomb American Legion.
