He was born May 12, 1935, in Rushville, the son of Bert W. and Mary Elizabeth Menely Hartman. He married Phyllis J. “Jeanne” Etter on Feb. 10, 1957, in Astoria. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2016.
He also was preceded in death by one grandson, Derek Edward Grenlund.
Surviving are four daughters, Lisa Camerer of Rockford, Lori (and Chet) Esther of Frederick, Lynai Howell of Springfield and Lonna (and Robert) Grenlund of Rushville; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Jean Barron.
He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for many years until retiring.
He was a member and bartender at the Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 for many years. He also was a member of Rushville Moose Lodge #506.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Charla Meyers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
