Nona HallarNona Hallar, 95, of Canton died at 10:15 p.m. Nov. 27, 2018, at Sunset Manor in Canton.

She was born April 26, 1923, near Lewistown, a daughter of Phillip and Laura McDermit Wells. She married Charles Stambaugh on April 26, 1940, in Lewistown. He died in April, 1972. She later married Ernest J. “Red” Hallar on Feb. 14, 1985, in Yuma, Ariz. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2013.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Keith Stambaugh; three brothers, three sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Stambaugh of Cuba and Thomas (and Mary Kay) Stambaugh of Canton; one brother, Frank Wells of Galesburg; three sisters, Nora Harding of Cameron, Nina Hanson of Galesburg and Verna Dinwiddie of Berwick; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She worked for many years at Day & Palin IGA in Lewistown and Cuba. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge, both in Canton.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Reverend Larry Wright officiating. Burial was at Baughman Cemetery in rural Smithfield.
