VeteranCharles Hadsall

Charles C. Hadsall, 86, of Riverton, formerly of Ipava, died at 5:20 a.m. Jan. 28, 2013, at Villa Healthcare East in Sherman.

He was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Pitmar, Canada, a son of Velma Dannenberger. He married Kathryn Bernice O'Malley on April 15, 1972, in Spaulding. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1998.

He also was preceded in death by one stepson, Neal Gamm.

Surviving are one daughter, Christine (and Darrell) Crawford of Riverton; one stepson, Thomas (and Carol) Gamm of Bend, Ore.; one stepdaughter, Trish O'Malley of Sebastopol, Calif.; one sister, Jean (and Harry) Turvey of Taylorville; one brother, Lyle (and Kay) Dannenberger of Springfield; and one grandchild.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1944-46 with a rank of TEC 4 in the Company B, 185th Engineers C Battalion.

He was a machinist at Fiat-Allis in Springfield, retiring in the late 1970s.

He was a member of Table Grove American Legion; Edinburg American Legion Post, in which he helped establish; and United Auto Workers.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery with military rites provided by Ipava American Legion Post #17.
