CLIFFORD N. HEFLIN

Clifford Heflin

Clifford N. Heflin, 86, of Vermont died at 1:35 p.m. Jan. 7, 2012, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Vermont, the son of Clifford J. and Gladys L. Mayall Heflin. He married Mary E. Sipes on June 6, 1944, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Norman E. Heflin of Vermont; two daughters, Janet (and Sue Shima) Kelly of Raleigh, N.C., and Regina (and William) Jeffery of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Joan (and Alan) Curtis of Bushnell; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He worked for C.B. and Q. Railroad, Bader and Company in Vermont and for Local #649 Operators Engineers of Peoria.

He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and Local #649 Operators Engineers of Peoria. He helped with the Boy Scouts for several years.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Reverend Robert Greene officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
