Barbara HamiltonBarbara Jean Hamilton, 77, of Rushville died at 3:45 p.m. July 20, 2010, at her home.

She was born Aug. 17, 1932, near Birmingham, a daughter of Chester O. and Wanda Merideth Beckerdite. She married Alvin Hamilton on April 15, 1951, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are four children; two daughters, Beverly (and Dana) Roudebush of Macomb and Nancy (and Ted) Trone of Rushville; two sons, Rick Hamilton of Avon and Steve (and Melissa) Hamilton of Rushville; one sister, Roberta (and Don) Reeder of Galesburg; one brother, Kay (and Carol) Beckerdite of Colchester; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She ran a home day care for small children for 30 years.

She showed flowers and vegetables at the Schuyler County Fair where she won prizes. She was selected Schuyler County Mother of the Year.

She volunteered at the HELP Center and served on the 4-H board for many years.

She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Brooklyn Cemetery.
