Twila P. Hulvey, 92, of Canton, formerly of Astoria and Ipava area, died at 3:49 p.m. Jan. 12, 2010, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton.
She was born Jan. 6, 1918, in Alpha, Minn., a daughter of Earl C. and Elsie Beseke Starnes. She married Maurice L. Hulvey on March 11, 1937, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1997.
She also was preceded in death by one sister; and two brothers.
Surviving are one special friend, Carolyn Young and her family; and nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of London Mills Community High School and Liberty School of Beauty Culture in Peoria.
She was owner/operator of the Beauty Nook in Rushville, and later helped her husband in farming for more than 30 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton.
Services were held Friday at her church with Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
