Wayne Hamm

Wayne E. Hamm, 92, of Astoria died at 7:34 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born May 19, 1912, in Vermont, a son of Noah S. and Lydia Ann Gibble Hamm. He married Ruth Loechner on July 15, 1972, in Naperville. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cheryl (and Carlton) Tillman of Gainesville, Fla.; one son, Scott (and Linda) Carothers of Parkland, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Verle Hamm; and one sister, Mildred Emerich.

He worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for several years and was a purchasing and delivery agent for Don L. Dise Primus Corp. from 1946 to 1993.

He served in the Civilian Public Service for three and one half years.

He was a member of Naperville Community United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Astoria Church of the Brethren with Rev. Gary Schultz and Rev. Tom Babler officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
