David Hunter

David E. Hunter, 44, of Rushville died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County.

He was born Aug. 25, 1959, in Marengo, Iowa, a son of Merlyn and Margaret Stambaugh Hunter. He married Sandy Humphrey on March 27, 1992, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents; one daughter, Carrie Hunter of Beardstown; and two brothers, Richard "Mike" (and Janet) Hunter, and John (and Rhonda) Hunter, both of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Pearl Hunter; and his maternal grandparents, Rev. Earl and Lula Stambaugh.

He was a coal miner in Carbondale, Industry, Galesburg and Indiana. He also worked as a commercial fisherman in 1993, worked for Excel Corp. in Beardstown for seven years, farmed, was an emergency medical technician for Schuyler County since 1995, and currently was working for Farris Logging Co.

He belonged to the United Mine Workers of America and Browning Fire and Rescue Squad.

He was a member of Midwest Christian Ministries in Jacksonville.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the memorial home. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Emergency Medical Services Building in Rushville.
