Bobby Hays

Bobby Jo Hays, 67, of Adair died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born June 1, 1933, in Baton Rouge, La., a son of Tom and Helen McMillon Hays. He married Maxine Brown on Nov. 5, 1982, in Macomb. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Elijah at home; five daughters, Kathy Jo Hays, Rebecca Jo (and Marshall) Haefner and Sara Jo Hays, all of Springfield, Norma (and Marlin) Danner of Macomb and Lia Hays at home; one brother, Kenneth (and Grace) of Washington Court House, Ohio; four sisters, Cleo Rankin of Athens, Texas, Ozell Sweeney of Whitewright, Texas, and Loveta Burger and Lena Whistler, both of Brazil, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He was a member of Adair Christian Church.

A member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he worked for GTE in Macomb for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Services were held today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. James Comstock officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield.

Memorials may be made to his church or to McDonough District Hospice in Macomb.
