Marshall James Hughes, 94, of Prairieview Care Center in Lewistown, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born July 1, 1903, in Schuyler County, a son of Julius and Rebecca Harmon Hughes. He married Naomi Foutch.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Hughes of Laura; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Hughes, two brothers and three sisters.
He retired from Truax Traer Coal Company in 1965.
Graveside services were held this afternoon at Maryville Cemetery near Bryant with Rev. Darlene Reiner officiating. Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Elmore United Methodist Church Building Fund in Elmore.
