RALPH DEE “BUMP” HIGGINS

Ralph Higgins

Ralph Dee “Bump” Higgins, 85, of Plymouth, died at 7:17 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Oct. 28, 1911, near Birmingham in Schuyler County, a son of Elva and Inez Manlove Higgins. He married Francis Wier Dec. 21, 1934, at Rock Island. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Rodney and Linda Higgins of Plymouth; two grandsons, Travis Higgins of Virginia and Timothy Higgins of Astoria; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior J. Higgins of Mexico, Mo. and Donald H. Higgins of LaPrairie; two sisters, Lois VanFleet of Plymouth and Ruth Utter of Browning.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex Higgins and Raleigh Higgins; and two sisters, Marie Jones and Gladys Orr.

He attended Guinea and Round Prairie country schools and Plymouth High School. He was a member of the Plymouth First Baptist Church and retired from farming in 1987.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Henry Nash officiating. Burial was in Round Prairie Cemetery near Plymouth.

Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth was in charge of arrangements.
