W. Vernon Hart

W. Vernon Hart, 96, of Raritan, formerly of Bushnell, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 1996, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stronghurst.

He was born April 18, 1900, in Marietta, a son of William Henry and Mary Adella Wallace Hart. He married Haldeen Stubblefield on Sept. 7, 1921, in New Philadelphia. She died March 8, 1993. Three infant children, three brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Maxine Mowen of Raritan; one brother, Homer Hart of Marietta; one sister, Alice Cadwalder of Bushnell; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was a farmer in the Marietta area for 28 years and a barber in Cedar Hill, Mo., for 30 years. He owned and operated Hart’s Nursery in Bushnell for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Point Pleasant Church near Marietta.

Funeral services were held Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. Mary Jo Williams and Rev. Dan Osborne officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church or Oak Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
