Gary Hopkins

Gary W. Hopkins, 53, of rural Rushville, died at 8:41 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 1995, in the emergency room at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 17, 1941, in Schuyler County, a son of Harold H. and Cora Bea Lashbrook Hopkins.

Surviving are his mother of Rushville; one daughter, Mrs. Andy (Lori) Norris of Rushville; one stepson, Jim Vaughn of Bowen; one stepdaughter, Tanya Smith of Mount Sterling; four brothers, Harold E. and Orson D., both of Astoria, James A. of Rushville and Fred H. of Chester; and 13 grandchildren.

One sister preceded him in death.

He worked at Amax Coal Co. for 18 years, CB&Q Railroad for 11 years, the Oscar Mayer Plant in Beardstown for six years, Excel Corp. in Beardstown two years and Laverdiere Construction Inc. in Macomb for one year. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He also was a member of Rushville Saddle Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Clint Palmer officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
