VeteranRaymond Hatton Of Havana Dies

Raymond E. Hatton, 93, of 638 S. Broadway, Havana, died at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1990, at the Havana Healthcare Center.

He was born Dec. 7, 1896, at Lafayette, Ind., a son of Edgar and Kathryn Englert Hatton. He married Margaret McGirr on May 16, 1922, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving are 3 daughters, Sister Christine of Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield, Theresa McMullen of Table Grove, and Linda Sager of Elmwood; two sons, Raymond Hatton of Wabash, Ind., and James Hatton of Lynette, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walter, Herbert and Richard, all of Havana; and two sisters, Ada Hughes and Vera Rader, both of Havana.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert, and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hatton was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana and American Legion Post 138. He was a World War I Navy veteran. He was a metal lathe worker at Crescent Forge and Shovel Co. before retiring.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father John Horton officiating. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana with Havana Post 138 American Legion conducting services at the grave.

Hurley Funeral Home in Havana was in charge of services.
