Wilmer E. Hopkins Dies in Knoxville

Wilmer E. Hopkins, 73, of rural Dahinda died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, May 26, 1980, in Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, where he had been a patient since Jan. 22.

Born Feb. 24, 1907, near Browning, a son of Henry W. and Rosa Darling Hopkins, he married Norrine Roudebush at Virginia Dec. 4, 1933.

She preceded him in death as did two brothers.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ben (Irma Rose) Begtchol of Montgomery; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Wilma) Shaffer of Astoria and Mrs. Mary Wiley of Dahinda; two brothers, Kenneth of Davenport, Iowa and Harold of Rushville; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Hopkins was formerly a coal miner. He had lived in the Dahinda area 10 years.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Larson Funeral Home, Abingdon, with Rev. Ira Childs officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening.
