Mrs. Alice Hamm Dies At Age 85

Mrs. Alice H. Hamm, 85, of Astoria died at 4:35 p.m. Friday, Apr. 25, 1980, at Astoria Care Center.

She was born Oct. 19, 1894, at Chatham, Ill., the daughter of William and Anna Harnley Fahs. She married Charles Ray Hamm on Oct. 29, 1921, at Black Rock, Pa. He died Aug. 21, 1976.

She was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren at Astoria.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mae Batterton of Ipava and Mrs. Ruth Danner of Astoria; one son, Ray F. Hamm of Ipava; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Martha Sharp of Chatham; two brothers, Charles Fahs of Chatham and Elmer Fahs of Virden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Woodland Church with Rev. Paul Stauffer officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
