Archie C. Hughes Dies June 19

Archie HughesArchie C. Hughes, son of James W. and Rachel Sowers Hughes was born in Summum Feb. 5, 1894 and passed away June 19, 1975, in the Culbertson Memorial Hospital at Rushville.

He married Maude Huff June 25, 1913 who died Oct. 21, 1933. He married Helen Walters Price on Dec. 5, 1936.

He is survived by his wife Helen; two daughters, Frances Hougham of East Peoria and Vivian Smith of Canton; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three children, three half brothers and a half sister.

Arch was a member of the Astoria Bible Church where he served as Elder and Deacon. He was a man of strong spiritual convictions.

He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Although his presence will be missed by all, his influence will remain.
