Mary Gore

Mary GoreMary C. Gore, 96, of Ipava died at 3:51 a.m. March 28, 2013, in Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Ipava, a daughter of Leonard C. and Fannie Lacey Weese. She married Roy R. Gore on Aug. 31, 1940, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1997.

She was preceded in death by Ila O'Malley.

Surviving are one great-nephew, Tom (and Carol) Gamm of Bend, Ore.; one great-niece, Trisha O'Malley of Occidental, Calif.; and one great-great-nephew, Michael Gamm of Bend, Ore.

She was an administrative assistant for Austrian POW's at Camp Ellis in Ipava during World War II. She also was in charge of the camp PX. She worked for her uncle Ed Weese's Chrysler dealership in Ipava and for Virgil Sowers Texaco and Appliance in Ipava as a bookkeeper. She then worked and retired as a bookkeeper for Fulton County Clerk's Office.

She was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church, Vermont Breakfast Club, Sweet Adelines, headed up Ipava Homecoming Parade for many years and was a 50-year member of Ipava Order of the Eastern Star #226.

Services were held Tuesday at Ipava United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
