Benjamin Grover

Benjamin D. Grover, 80, of Memphis, Mo., formerly of Fulton County, died at 9:04 p.m. Jan. 5, 2008, at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, Mo.

He was born July 16, 1927, in Knox City, Mo., the son of Joe P. and Eva Levere Grover. He married Marjorie F. Shawgo on Nov. 16, 1945, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Larry (and Debbie) Grover of Washington, Roger (and Phyllis) Grover of Rockville, Ind., and Steve (and Linda) Grover of Memphis; two daughters, Dixie (and Jerry) Stitt of Verona and Susan (and Dennis) Thompson of Springfield; three sisters, Bonnie (and Larry) Lindemann of O’Fallen, Mo., Ellen (and Don) Bearwood of Florence, Ariz., and Linda (and Woodrow) Wilson of St. Louis, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He farmed in the Fulton County area, then worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria until his retirement in 1987.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rollie Sarver and Mark Peters officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to Twin Pines Adult Care Center or The Alzheimer’s Association.
