Lester GoodwinLester Carl Goodwin, 78, of Rushville died at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 27, 2006, at his home.

He was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County, a son of Glenn and Dorothy M. Vancil Goodwin. He married Lenore Martin on June 19, 1953, in Flint, Mich. She died April 26, 1993. He later married Lydia Dohner Copes on Dec. 14, 1997, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Lester (and Kim) of East Peoria; one daughter, Pamela (and Scott) Smith of New Berlin, Wis.; two brothers, Lyle (and Maxine) of Arlington Heights and Leland of Cuba; two sisters, Margie Bunfill of Mesa, Ariz., and Marialene (and Bob) Brobeck of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil; and one sister, Louise Hendricker.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1946.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving in the military, he farmed in Schuyler County until 1962. He and his family then moved to Industry, and he worked at King Seeley-Thermos and Haeger Pottery, both in Macomb. He was employed as grounds maintenance foreman at Western Illinois University from 1964 until retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church.

Services were held Saturday at his church with Rev. Rose Ross officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
