Shirley Ann Green of Pekin died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born in Astoria, the daughter of Carl Milton and Susan Beulah Benton Whittenberg. She married Dennis Dale Green on Oct. 22, 1994, in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Pamela McCombs of Peoria; one son, Jeffrey (and Lori) McCombs of Pekin; and one granddaughter.
She had been the chief deputy county clerk of Tazewell County since Jan. 15, 1986, last working Feb. 7, 2003. Prior to that, she worked for the Tazewell County Resource Center for several years.
She was a former member of Pekin Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and a former board member of the Peoria Association for Retarded Citizens.
A member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin and its United Methodist Women, she also played the piano for the Saturday night worship service for many years and was past co-chairwoman of the Church and Society committee. She served on the Pekin Crop Walk committee for several years.
Services were held Monday at her church with Rev. Gary Ford officiating. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
