Vera Maxine Groves, 87, of Astoria died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Astoria Gardens.
She was born April 24, 1915, at the Blue family home in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Charles and Carrie Thompson Blue. She also was cared for by her aunt Lucy Thompson Blue. She married Cline Groves on June 17, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. He died May 25, 1982.
She also was preceded in death by one sister.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles (and Nelda) Blue of Blandinsville and Herbert (and Alberta) Blue of Salt Lake City, Utah; and one sister, Lois (and Veldon) Speed of Texas.
Except for a period when she worked in the Chicago area and attended secretarial school, she lived her entire life in the Astoria area.
She was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, where visitation will be one hour before services. Pastor Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.
