VERGIL R. GAIN

Vergil Gain

Vergil R. Gain, 92, of Rushville, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 20, 1906, in Urbana, a daughter of James and Ann Kirby Everman. She married Leslie W. Gain on June 24, 1928, in Astoria. He died Aug. 29, 1987. One sister and two brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Allen of Springfield, Joel of Petersburg and Jeffrey of Hardin; one sister, Hazel Wilson of Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She, her husband and his brother, Ernie Gain, built and operated Gain Brothers Greenhouse in Rushville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville, PEO Sisterhood, Chapter AL; Daughters of the American Revolution, Be-Kik-A-Nin-E Chapter; Schuyler County Historical Society; and Culbertson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
