Jerome Grissom Dies Suddenly

Jerome Grissom an aged and respected citizen died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at his home in the southwest part of town.

Mr. Grissom had just returned from an errand up town and had laid down to rest in his bed room when his wife heard him make an unusual noise. Going to his assistance she found him in an unconscious state. Death followed soon afterwards.

Mr. Grissom had been in failing health for several years. However he was able to be up and around most of the time.

Jerome B. Grissom was born in Ohio, Oct. 17, 1840 making him at the time of his death, aged 79 years, 8 months and 12 days.

He married Miss Elizabeth Wonderly, Feb. 24, 1862 and to them were born twelve children, eight of whom together with the aged wife survive. They are: John, Edward and Orley of Astoria; William, Toler and Mrs. Charles Hagans of Farfield, Iowa, Harry of Crawfordsville, Kans., and Mrs. Arch Thomas of Pekin, also a granddaughter, Miss Bunch Grissom at home.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian church of which he was a member, Thursday at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L. A. Crown. Burial in the Astoria cemetery.
