William "Bill" FosterWilliam “Bill” D. Foster, 95, of Peoria, formerly of Table Grove, died at 9:53 a.m. July 18, 2014, at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peoria Heights.

He was born Oct. 10, 1918, in Table Grove, the son of Marshall and Grace Byerly Foster. He married Marie Strehlow on Aug. 21, 1948, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Marcia (and Rhea) Taylor of Peoria; one son, Michael (and Wendy) Foster of Downers Grove; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He worked for Block and Kuhl Company in Peoria, that later became Carson Pirie Scott for 40 years. He also managed the family farms in the Table Grove area.

He was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1943-52 with a rank of 1st Lt.

He was a graduate of Northwestern University. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was active in Corn Stock Theatre in Peoria, in production and on the stage.

He was a member of Table Grove Community Church, Past Commander of Table Grove American Legion and a 50-year member of Vermont Masonic Lodge.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at his church with Pastor Rob Harrison officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Private burial will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

A separate Celebration of Life service will be held on his birthday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Independence Village in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to Table Grove Fire and Rescue Squad, Vermont American Legion or Ipava American Legion.
