Lena France

Lena L. France, 91, of Morton died at 3:45 p.m. April 5, 2009, at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton.

She was born April 2, 1918, in Ipava, a daughter of James Harley and Mary Belle Harmon Smith.

Surviving are one son, Larry (and Glenda) France of Peoria; one sister, Ruby Landreth of Kansas City, Kan.; special friend, Teresa Hudspeth of East Peoria; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Estes; one great-grandson, Justin France; two sisters, Mary Lalicker and Leotta Vanfossen; and two brothers, Harold and Paul Smith.

She worked at Methodist Hospital in Peoria for many years.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Berean Christian Church in Ipava.
