George Fisk

George A. Fisk, 76, of Astoria died at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 21, 1925, in Vermont Township, Fulton County, a son of Charles Lloyd and Mary Elizabeth Brown Fisk. He married Loretta F. Utsinger on Jan. 19, 1947, in Astoria. She died July 5, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (and Robert) Miller of Morton and Georgia (and Gale) Parker of Astoria; one son, Charles (and Karen) of Astoria; six grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene (and Bernard) Derry of Astoria and Rose Mary (and Willard) Heger of Hot Springs Village, Ark; one brother, Donald (and Sue) of Marion, Ark., and a special friend, Rose Davis of Astoria.

He was a farmer and self-employed carpenter. He also owned and operated Fisk Implement Co. in Astoria from 1962 thru its merger into Fisk-Wilson Implement Co. He retired in 1972.

He was a 50-year member of Vermont Lodge 116, AF&AM, and also a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 226 in Ipava.

He was a former Astoria Township trustee. He was a member of the Rolling River Ramblers Camping Club and Fulton County Zoning Review Board.

He was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church.

Services were held Monday at Vermont Christian Church with Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to an education fund for his grandchildren established at Ipava State Bank, 101 E. Broadway, Astoria, IL 61501.
