Darlene DerryDarlene Derry, 91, of Canton, formerly of Astoria, East Peoria and Hot Springs, Ark., died at 5:35 p.m. April 29, 2019, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Fulton County, a daughter of Charles Lloyd and Mary Elizabeth Brown Fisk. She married Bernard Derry on Sept. 14, 1947, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Ryan Petefish; and one brother, George Fisk.

Surviving are one son, Dr. Greg (and Susan) Derry of Cuba, Ill.; one daughter, Kathy (and Ron) Hayes of Groveland; one sister, Rose (and Bill) Heger of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; one brother, Donald Fisk of Rolla, Mo.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

As a young woman, she was an air traffic controller until marriage changed her path. She spent her life supporting her husband in farming and raising her family.

She was a faithful member of Summum Christian Church where she was very active with her baking skills at all funeral dinners. She moved to Canton for the remaining 12 years of her life.

Services will be held at noon Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Darrin Fish and granddaughter Kim Watkins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Fulton County Humane Society or TAPS in Pekin.
