F. Jerry Ford, 77, of rural Vermont, died at 4:44 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at his home.

He was born April 10, 1921, in Oakland Township, Schuyler County, a son of Floyd R. and Ethyl May Cox Ford. He married Pauline Danner on Oct. 9, 1946, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Duane (Gwen) Easley of Macomb, Mrs. Rick (Kathy) Heller of Lewistown and Mrs. Matt (Cindy) Creasy of Vermont; five grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

One infant brother preceded him in death.

He was a farmer and worked at Western Illinois University for 16 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a military policeman. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1921 in Macomb and the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post 26 in Vermont for 53 years. He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church for 44 years.

Services were held Sunday at his church with Rev. Jerry Sawyer officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery, where military rites were accorded by his American Legion post. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital hospice program in Macomb, his church or his American Legion post.
