Dean O. Franks, 66, of Peoria, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 1996, at Fondulac Woods Health Care Center in East Peoria.

He was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Alexander, a son of Upton B. and Naomi McVeigh Franks. He married Juanita C. Courtney on Feb. 14, 1952, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Sherolyn K.) Neff of Lafayette, Ind.; one son, Randall R. Franks of Peoria; one brother, Gerald Franks of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three sisters, Lela Osborne of Table Grove, Virginia Patrick of Bushnell and Lois Stansbury of Monmouth; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

His parents, his stepmother, Lela Franks, one daughter, Candace M. Olson, one brother and one grandson preceded him in death.

A member of Teamsters Local 627 for 20 years and Teamsters Retirees Club, he was an over the road truck driver for 30 years, last working for Groendyke Transport Inc. in Enid, Okla. He was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran. He belonged to Joseph Robbins Masonic Lodge 930, AF&AM, for 15 years. He was of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services were held this morning at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Masonic services were held Tuesday. Cremation followed services. Burial of ashes will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.
