Larry N. Farwell of Beardstown Dies

Larry Neil Farwell, 12, son of Leslie A. and Leta K. Monger Farwell, was found at about 3:39 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 1989, in the garage of the family home in Beardstown.

Police Chief Bob Flood said a rope was apparently used over an area in the ceiling of the garage. An autopsy revealed death was caused by strangulation.

He was born Aug. 30, 1977, in Beardstown, a son of Leslie A. and Leta Monger Farwell. They survive.

Also surviving are two brothers, Jim Farwell of Havana and Don Farwell, at home; paternal grandparents, Louis and Janie Farwell of Rushville; maternal grandmother, Lylus Monger of Beardstown; paternal great-grandmother, Ocie M. Hughes of Beardstown; maternal great-grandmother, Opal Farthing of Swaledale, Iowa; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Monger.

He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown and a 7th grade student at Beardstown Junior High School.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Beaty officiating. He will be taken to the church at 2:30 p.m. to lie in state until time of service.

Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Parent Action Team or to Beardstown Little League Association.
