Nelson W. “Joe” Furnace, 77, died shortly before noon Tuesday, June 10, 1975 at Snyder’s Nursing Home in Rushville where he had been a patient for several months.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1897 near Astoria, a son of Thomas M. and Susan A. Burlingame Furnace. He was married to Mildred C. Bergeson in 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1956.
Survivors include one brother, F. D. Furnace of Nashville, Tenn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mendenhall of Astoria and Mrs. Jenness Bollinger of Vermont.
Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Astoria.
