Aged Astorian Passes Away

Clem Falkenstein Dies At Hospital In Beardstown; Funeral Yesterday

Clamer I. (Clem) Falkenstein, a lifelong resident of Astoria, died shortly before midnight Saturday at the hospital in Beardstown following an illness of several months duration.

Mr. Falkenstein was born in Astoria on June 3, 1868, a son of Benjamin and Sarah (McClung) Falkenstein. At the time of his death he was aged 73 years, 7 months and 28 days. He was married to Zadie Howard, who preceded him in death in July, 1941.

Surviving are four children: Mrs. Ruth Waechter, Michigan; Howard Falkenstein, Florida; Fred Falkenstein, Belvidere, Ill.; Miss Abbie Falkenstein at home; and the following brothers and sisters: William O., Astoria; Edward, Bluff City; Lewis, Littleton; J. B. Falkenstein and George, San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Minnie Horner, Canton.

Funeral services were held at the Horton residence at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. J. T. Sapp in charge. Burial in Astoria cemetery.
