Dwight E. Eddington Sr., 84, of Swansea died April 24, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
He was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Macomb, the son of Clarence and Clara Bozard Eddington. He married Linda Workman in June of 1954 in Beardstown. She preceded him in death.
He also was preceeded in death by one daughter, Carol Stoops.
Surviving are three sons, Max (and Margie) Stoops of Sandia Park, N.M, Charles Stoops of Littleton and Dwight (and Sandy) Eddington of Cuba; one daughter, Jerri (and David) Tippey of Belleville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-64 as a corpsman and firefighter. He also worked at International Harvester in Canton and then for the State of Illinois in conservation.
He was lifetime member of the NRA and American Legion.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria.
