LAWRENCE W. “FLAT TOP” EASLEY

Lawrence W. “Flat Top” Easley, 70, of Canton, formerly of Ipava, died at 3:20 p.m. Oct. 1, 2008, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.

He was born April 27, 1938, in Ipava, a son of Oscar and Edna Johnson Easley. He married Zelma Geraldine Weaver on June 14, 1969, in Farmington. She survives.

Also surviving are one stepson, Douglas Burks of Canton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, Mark A. Burks; four brothers, Virgil, Samuel, Otis and Lloyd Easley; and two sisters, Imogene Cozart and Alice Pearl Easley.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1957 to 1963.

He worked for International Harvestor in Canton.

He was a member of Ipava Christian Church and Canton American Legion.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ipava Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Hill officiating. Military rites will be provided by Ipava American Legion. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava is in charge of arrangements.
