Ernest Ellis

Ernest B. Ellis, 85, of Canton died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Graham Hospital Extended Care.

He was born March 1, 1915, in Fairview, a son of Harry and Ethel Brush Ellis. He married Vera L. Orwig on Aug. 11, 1937, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gary (and Cynthia) of Germantown Hills; one daughter, Bonnie (and Charles) Harn of Canton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maxine Williams and Olivene Williams, both of Canton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, one in infancy.

He worked for International Harvester Co. in Canton for 13 years. He and his wife owned and operated a grocery store in Summum for 13 years and the Dairy Queen and Dairy Dream in Canton for 13 years.

He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 17 years.

He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Canton.

Services were held Saturday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Todd Waggoner officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
