He was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Bluff City, the son of Kenneth Lyle and Fern Ida Gould Dixon. He married Nedra Irene Avery on Jan. 23, 1954, in Olathe, Kan. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane (and Mike) Funcannon of Cassville, Mo., and Toni (and Kevin) Heathcoat of Peoria; one son, Kevin (and Lori) Dixon of Chillicothe; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He worked as a parts salesman for International Harvester. He also farmed most of his life.
He was a former member of the Hickory Kerton Fire Department.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Mike Icenogle officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bluff City Cemetery, Bluff City.
