Betty DavisBetty A. Davis, 95, of Macomb, formerly of Rushville, died at 11:29 p.m. Jan. 8, 2024, at The Lamoine in Macomb.

She was born March 15, 1928, in Browning, a daughter of John “Jigger” and Elva Bollinger Bates. She married George Stambaugh on May 17, 1951. He preceded her in death in August, 1984. She then married Chet Esther on Nov. 24, 1990. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1995. She later married Orpheus “Sam” Davis on June 5, 1999. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2014.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Garnet Briney and Isla Soper; and one brother, Kermit Bates.

Surviving are one son, Joe (and Letha) Stambaugh of Astoria; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Stambaugh; and nieces and nephews.

She was a 1946 graduate of Lewistown High School. She later attended Bible college.

She worked for several years as a cafeteria cook at Browning Grade School. She had also worked for Wood Funeral Home and the Schuyler State Bank. She was devoted in her faith and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Triplett and Wood Funeral Home of Rushville with Pastor Stacy Tomich officiating. Burial will follow at the Browning Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
