He was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Palistine, a son of Ralph and Bessie Owen Decker. He married Eileen Dare on Dec. 31, 1969, in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Betty (and Brian) Bishop, Stephanie (and Dana) Parson, Lena (and John) Winters and Monika Henelly; one brother, Harry Decker; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Martin Decker, Marshall Decker, Ralph Decker, Owen Decker and Jay Decker; one sister, Martha Morse; and one great-grandchild.
He retired from the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War. He enlisted in 1953 and retired as a Sergeant in 1973.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. A graveside funeral service will be held at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton following the visitation.
