Herbert DavisHerbert Eugene Davis, 92, of Rushville died at 9:30 a.m. May 9, 2021, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Rushville, a son of Arthur and Louise Dosier Davis. He married Polly Miller, who preceded him in death. He later married Pat Meis, who also preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Davis; and three sisters, Linda Thomas, Betty Freeman and Ina Willis.

Surviving are one brother, Stanley Davis of Decatur; one nephew, who he thought of as a son; David (and Joni) Thomas of Rushville; one brother-in-law, Gary Thomas of Rushville; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, at Good Hope Cemetery near Rushville with Rev. Bill Rucker officiating. Inurnment will follow. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
