Richard Derry

Richard Eugene Derry, 81, of Brooklyn died at 6:27 p.m. May 29, 2019, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Oct. 15, 1937, in McDonough County, a son of Ivan and Ina Campbell Derry Sr.

Surviving are one son, Kevin (and Ramat) Eversole of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, Arthur (and Millie) Derry of Augusta and Carl (and Wanda) Derry of Goldsboro, N.C.; one sister, Cora Mae Grimm of Industry; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ivan Derry Jr., George Derry, David Derry, Stanley Derry and Kermit Derry; and two sisters, LaVera Risse and an infant sister.

He was a 1954 graduate of Rushville High School. He served in the United States Air Force from Feb. 2, 1955, to March 7, 1957. He worked as a truck driver for various companies, retiring in 2002.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Brooklyn Cemetery. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
